it's called a sapota; you won't find this fruit in the stores often, but it grows in abundance in Mexico and Central America; sort of the consistency of a peach, but with a creamier texture; very sweet and delicious; try it, you'll like it; if you can find it.
There is a sapote tree on mission where the last straw feed store used to be. free fruit still i think.
